40 engines of the Wärtsilä 20DF power Chinese first LNG powered PSV fleet
The Wärtsilä technology company has been awarded the contract to produce 40 generating units for twelve new PSV vessels, the first of which will be installed on a Chinese owner's LNG platform. The several advantages of the dual-fuel motors was the reason for Wärtsilä 20DF winning the contract against other bids.
The ships are under construction in the Shipbuilding Industry at Wuchng Yard and Liaonan Shipyard, China, in collaboration with China Oilfield Services Co Ltd (COSL).
The benefits of choosing the Wärtsilä 20DF engine included its low cost of operations, higher fuel efficiency, better environmental performance, its lower load operating capacity and its durability and reliability.

At the end of 2019, the 40 Wärtsilä engines will be sent to the shipyards. Wärtsilä has good relationships with the owners who supplied their fleet with propulsion equipment and different engines.
