The new 2020 Civic Type R comes with a lot of changes to enhance its already packed features, including new brake pads that bolster high-speed braking efficiency and limit fade. The new suspension revisions will also come with upgraded dampers to improve comfort, stiffer rear bushings for more grip control, upgrade to the front suspension to improve steering. There are also exterior design enhancements such as a large front grille opening to enhance engine cooling. The 2020 Type R will be on the market during the winter season, and it will be available in an exclusive Type R-exclusive Boost Blue color.
There are so many additions that drivers hope to get from the new model. In terms of steering, a new AlcantaraTM wrapped steering wheel and a new shifter with a well-designed knob and shorter shift throws. The car also comes with the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistive technology. This will make it the first time that Honda Sensing will be available as a piece of standard equipment on various Civic models.
The engine of the 2020 Civic Type R packs a punch. The new model gets its power from a race-bred 2.0 liter direct-injected and turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with VTEC valvetrain. This puts its peak at 30 horsepower and 295lbft of torque. The front-wheel power is delivered through a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
Drivers can make a choice between three distinct driving modes; Sport, Comfort, and +R. Each driving mode varies in terms of suspension firmness, steering response, and throttle response. Another new addition to the model is the Active Sound Control. This feature helps modify the interior sound in response to the selected drive mode.
Overall, the Type R's stylish design and distinct drive make it a state of the art ride on various terrains. Use it on a racetrack, or mountain road, or even on standard surfaces, you will get an enjoyable experience every step of the way.
